February Habit
Feb 2nd, 2008 by katesaltfleet
So, January’s habit was giving up the booze. With the exception of one spritzer I achieved this and to be honest I feel like a bit of a fraud because it wasn’t even that difficult. I expected it to be more of a challenge than it really was. I even went to social events and didn’t have that much of a hard time not drinking (and it was really nice having the luxury of being able to get home in my own car).
Last night, HTB and I had a bottle of wine between us. About halfway down the first glass I felt a bit tipsy. I had two glasses of wine (kept topping up his glass!), and plenty of water, but I started to get a bit of a headache, so I had a couple of paracetamol before going to bed. This morning, I was up and about fairly early, and I wasn’t hungover, but I did feel sluggish. I don’t think I’m going to completely give up the booze, but drinking doesn’t seem such a clever thing to do these days.
For February, I will continue with the exercise plan and add the new habit of taking fifteen minutes to relax each day. That is all. Just fifteen minutes for myself to quieten my chatter-filled brain. My life has got so busy now, with fitting in this exercise and now with my Spanish course starting again, that I have to schedule in relaxation time or risk total burn-out. I have started doing yoga on a Monday, and I love having “permission” to relax for fifteen minutes at the end of the session. Then I realised, that I don’t have to have a yoga teacher to tell me to relax, I could do the relaxation sessions at home. Beth Irvine does some great guided relaxation sessions, I just need to work out how to download them on to my ipod.
