Fortnightly web round-up #3

My recent stumbles, bookmarks and other online discoveries.
Blogs - favourite articles
How to stay focused: vision maintenance and the minutiae vacuum at Pick the Brain. Goodness me, all my work-avoidance strategies are here, all that’s missing is “I’ve got an assignment due - must clean the bathroom first”.
Five ways keeping a journal can change your life at The Change Blog. I have to admit that I am somewhat sporadic in writing a journal. For me it tends to spiral down into either complaining about things or reporting on things like what I had for dinner. My birthday (the one ending in 0) is coming up in a few weeks so maybe that would be a good time for me to commit myself.
How to ask for (and get) a raise at Stepcase Lifehack. I liked the way that this article emphasised that in effect you need a six month plan to build up a portfolio of how great you are and then ask. I’m building my little empire as I type!
Things I found through StumbleUpon:
Ways to make feeling crap benefit you at Dumb Little Man Yay, finally someone admits that even those personal development people have off days.
Bizarro.com Cool artwork with an animal rights theme. What’s not to love? My favourite is the hippy bull with the Make Love not Burgers placard.
Froglife is an environmental organisation looking to protect frogs and their habitats in the UK
Other things I bookmarked:
Differing views of the world at Pegasus NLP. What’s good for me isn’t always good for you! Father Ted references which always wins with me.
“Machines suck!” A sinister little cartoon from social network Do the green thing
15 reasons to stop hiding from vegetarianism at Alternet Some of the comments on this article are fascinating. There’s a lot of veggie haters out there. What is it about vegetarianism that raises such hostile reactions? Hmm, must write a post about that ![]()
Finally a recipe for home made hob-nobs at Money Saving Expert.com
