Dedication to meditation - days 7-15
Jun 15th, 2008 by katesaltfleet
So far the only morning I have missed for meditation was last Sunday, as I was out all night in Edinburgh for my friend’s hen party. It was a really good craic, especially since we discovered what a Scotsman keeps under his kilt and went on the spooky tour of Edinburgh, filled with tales of the bodysnatchers and the McKenzie Poltergeist.
I have linked the meditations into a little chain of new habits. I didn’t originally plan to do that, but it kind of flowed out organically. I have been getting up early in order to have the time to meditate and afterwards I have been doing a mini yoga routine for about 10-15 minutes.
Progress
This chain has been working well this week, and I can definitely recommend this if you are wanting to set up a new habit. It’s like all three links in the chain support each other. I can now sit cross-legged for the full 20 minutes. In the last couple of days I have been able to let go of my thoughts a bit more easily and have noticed more sensations and colours behind my closed eyes. I have also noticed that I have felt a lot calmer in my day to day existence. I feel like my efforts are starting to pay off, and the 20 minutes seem to pass more quickly than they did two weeks ago.
This week has been particularly busy for me, as in addition to the jaunt up to Scotland last weekend, I went to a conference in Manchester on Thursday and yesterday I was in Nottingham for one of my Open University tutorials, so the calming influence of the meditations came in very handy ![]()

I’ve been working on starting some meditation and energy work myself, I think it would really benefit me day to day since it seems my anxiety has SPIKED recently.
Do you know any good resources on information for good meditation routines?
